I'd just get a cheap one and give it a try - if you find you really like using it you can upgrade to a nicer one down the line if you need to. Walgreens should have one for under $15 I bet.
I am suspicious of this number, it seems too high. I did walk to breakfast and lunch today, which makes me think its good to be lazy and not pack your own lunch to work ;)

That didn't come out right. What I meant was, I had sweats on, and my pedometer was in my pants pocket.
